7. Mortal Kombat

When Mortal Kombat was first introduced in 1993, it quickly gain fame due to the very gory ending. The players can perform a finishing move on their opponents in the most vicious way such as taking the heart out of the enemy by brutal force.

The weak evaluation system back then has led to kids buying and playing this video game. Most politician and parents have voiced their disagreements with this video game as it brings a bad influence on youngsters.

Mortal Kombat caused the video games industry to create Entertainment Software Rating Board(ESRB) 5 months later. Every video game that will be marketed will be evaluated first to ensure that it is suitable for a particular age.

6. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 VR Mode

This video game genre featuring the battle of Dead or Alive is very controversial since it shows woman characters dressed inappropriately. Not enough with that, it also showed several additional mods whereby the player can interact with the sexy woman such as giving orders and choosing their clothes.

However, the Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 VR series which was published in 2016 is considered utterly unacceptable. The players can play virtually by interacting with the in-game characters such as touching the girls unwillingly. You can clearly hear the way they react as you interact with them.

Many have considered this video game to be an object that encourages some form of free sex in a virtual manner. The company behind it, Koei Tecmo decided to not promote it in the West due to the heavy criticism that was received.

5. Manhunt

Designed by the same person that create the Grand Theft Auto series, Manhunt might just be the most controversial game ever created by Rockstar. The main problem with this game is the violent aspects that were portrayed in the game where the opponents are killed in the most brutal way.

Despite all of that it has not stopped this game to be sold like hot pancakes across the globe.

3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Even though most of the Call of Duty series did not run away from controversies, the in-game mission known as "No Russian" in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 might have gone overboard.
In this mission, the player will play the CIA agent character that is in disguise to join the terrorist group. The player has to release a few shots toward the public at an airport in Russia.

In order to avoid the game from being banned in Japan and Germany, the publisher company has changed the mission whereby shooting the public will result in the failure of the mission. In Russia on the other hand, the mission was disposed of together. For the rest of the countries, players were only given the option to skip the despicable mission.

2. Postal 2

Similar to its previous series this first-person shooter game has caused criticism from the media. One of the aspects of the game that was criticized was the excessive violence that was being shown.

1. Custer's Revenge

This classic video game is produced by Mystique in 1982 for the Atari console 2600. Custer's Revenge can be said as the most controversial video game to ever be created.

The main character is based on the real George Armstrong Custer in real life, a general that lost in the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. The general Custer character that is seen naked has to cross a field while dodging obstacles like an arrow.

General Custer's target is to reach the end where he meets a Native American that is also naked while being tied to a pole. This game not only ruins the reputation of the American fighters but also does not respect the Native American people.

Atari finally sued Mystique due to jeopardizing its image with the creation of this disgusting video game.
