5. Net Yaroze

The Net Yaroze development kit was created in 1996 as the first initiative of Sony in developing indie games. This kit was designed by the creator of the PlayStation Ken Kutaragi that also includes a special black debugging PlayStation, a series of cables to connect the console to the computer, and a CD that contains the development tool of PlayStation.

At the time, Net Yaroze was sold at roughly $750. The actual figure for the number of Net Yaroze sold was never revealed but some reports have stated that thousands of units were sold worldwide.

Several games and demos were made for the gamers community and these games were arranged in demo cassettes released together with magazines like the official PlayStation UK magazine and PlayStation Underground.

On eBay, this console is now sold anywhere between $1,150 - $2,000.

4. 10 Million Edition PlayStation 1

The 10 Million Edition PS1 is another mysterious PlayStation console that is rarely found. Information regarding this console is hard to be obtained since it was released in 1997. It was reported that only 100 units of this very limited edition console were ever made by Sony to commemorate the achievement of 10 million PS1 consoles being sold around the world.

At first, it was thought that this similar 10 Million Edition PS1 will be given to the Sony workers as gifts. According to one Reddit user, the 10 Million Edition PS1 is dark blue in color and has a very unique matte touch to it.

A few of these consoles managed to be sold at the price of $3,000 - $9,000.

3. Warhammer 40K: Squad Command PSP

To celebrate the launching of the Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command video game for the PlayStation Portable(PSP), THQ has made 6 limited edition PSP consoles to be given to 6 lucky individuals.

The PSP Warhammer 40K: Squad Command console was designed by Games Workshop, a professional modeling team. One of the ways to get your hands on this exclusive Warhammer PSP console will be to join in the THQ lucky draws.

Other prizes in that event also include a copy of the Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command game and t-shirts. As of now not a single console of the Warhammer 40K: Squad Command PSP was ever sold.

2. Hitman Briefcase PS4

The Hitman Briefcase PS4 console is another unique and rare PlayStation console to be found. This console is a great replica of the telephone that was used by the protagonist of the Hitman video game.

The console was originally made in 2016  and supposedly given as a gift through an event organized by Square Enix, the publisher of Hitman at the time. However, according to the original owner of the Hitman Briefcase PS4, the console was never given due to a technical issue.

Therefore, the developer of Hitman, IO Interactive hold on to the Hitman Briefcase PS4 until the company decided to give the console out as gifts in a charity auction that will be held during the holiday of 2020.

This time, the Hitman Briefcase PS4 was given to the winner of that particular charity auction. Several months later, the winner sold the console to a Reddit user "TheBlackVulture" for an unknown amount that was never revealed.

Due to that, only one console has ever existed.

1. Nintendo PlayStation

Before Sony released the PlayStation 1 in 1994, one of the engineers of the company, Ken Kutaragi has shown his interest in developing a video game after watching his daughter play with the Famicon Nintendo(the earliest version of the Nintendo Entertainment System).

Kutaragi managed to get the cooperation of Nintendo to develop a prototype called CD-ROM Super NES System. It was reported that 200 or more of these prototypes were made but never sold because the partnership never worked out.

It is one of a kind console that features the partnership between Nintendo and PlayStation that exist to this day and perhaps it is the rarest one yet. The owner of the Nintendo PlayStation, Terry Diebold hold on to the console for years before selling it at an auction in 2020 for the whopping price of $360,000.
