1. Comedian


"Comedian" is a series of three similar works of art in which a piece of ripe banana that is duct-taped to the wall was produced by the artist, Maurizio Cattelan.

Despite Cattelan being so popular before with all his unique works of art, most of the art lovers out there have criticized one of his latest works "Comedian" which was considered a joke and has no value.

Who could imagine that a piece of banana that sticks to the wall with duct tape was sold for $120,000 USD? What seems to be funny is that the piece of art was eaten immediately during the auction by a show artist, David Datuna.

While Datuna was feasting on the delightful banana the price of the art just went up to $150,000 USD and Datuna felt what he did was simply an art show. He even did not want to apologize for his action because he believed that the art belongs to him.

2. Untitled


The art which was created in 1990 was only on auction after 5 years and it can be said that "Untitled" was the most famous piece of art ever created by Christopher Wool.

The art which was represented with the word "FOOL" or "the idiot" was on show for the eyes of many people out there which was mainly among art collectors. The art was exchanged from hand to hand many times until it was again sold in an auction in 2017.

In that particular auction, "Untitled" which was predicted to only be sold for an estimated $12 million to $18 million USD received biddings more than people have expected.

The art "Untitled" managed to be sold to its new owner in 2019 for $14 million USD.

3. Untitled (New York City)


Cy Twombly is one the well-known artist due to his work in abstract who simply love to do random doodles as well as repeated lines in his work of art.

The artist was born in 1928, and his work called Twombly is by far his most prestigious work it's named "Untitled (New York City)" and this piece of art was created in 1968 using only crayon and oil paints sketched on a piece of canvas.

This particular drawing was sold at an auction in 2014 in Los Angeles which has caused bidding wars among collectors. The art was successfully sold at the auction at a final price of $70.5 million USD.

4. Onement VI


Onement VI was produced in 1953 by Barnett Newman who happens to reflect his identity in his artworks with a straight line becoming the border of his work.

Newman has created one masterpiece called "Onemont" which comprises six different drawings and the "Onement VI" became the hottest piece of work Newman ever created considering it is the last drawing of the series.

The masterpiece was open for auction in 2013 after its new owner Paul Allen, founder of Microsoft decided to sell it. "Onement VI" which has a size of 259 x 305 centimeters was sold at auction at the worth of $43.8 million USD.

5. Merda d'artista


'Merda d'artista' or some might call it the shit artist is a masterpiece made by an Italian artist called Piero Manzone in 1961 when he was still in Milan.

He managed to contain 30g of disgusting poo every day into 90 tin cans with each can label from a series of 1 to 90. All the tins were labeled in three languages which include English, French, and German. 

The early sale of the shitty cans was made through barter where the buyer will buy one tin can for an exchange of 18 carats of 30g gold. The next consecutive tins were sold for roughly €50,000 up until €275,000. 

Up until this date, it is currently not known how many of the shitty cans were successfully sold. It seems that people can even make money from waste in cans.
