When we talk about exams, it will be the last thing that you want to do and some of you might think that what you just did was the hardest exam in your life. As usual, some of you might be happy with the results they got while others are in tears of despair.

If we were to ask most adults, they would probably say to you that it is not the end of the world despite you failing high school. There are more obstacles ahead that are more challenging and will shape what we become in the future.

Nevertheless, here are the top 10 toughest exams in the world.

10. Cisco Expert-Level Certification(CCIE)
CCIE is more than just a certificate and it's not those degrees that you get at the university but yet it is considered one of the toughest exams to pass in the world. Cisco will be the one to conduct this test in order to recruit network engineers.

This particular exam will test the candidate's capability to plan, handle and solve network infrastructure problems using different Cisco tools. The exam is divided into 6 parts in two phases in which the practical exam will last for 8 hours. 

It seems that Cisco claims that less than 1% of network engineers across the globe are able to pass this exam and get this certificate. That is one tough exam for sure.

9. Indian Engineering Services(IES)
This particular exam has 4 stages which are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) in India. That's right this is one tough exam for those Indians trying to pursue their career in engineering. 

UPSC recruited the IES to take care of the technical and management services in the Indian government. This exam consists of 6 tests and it seems that every year hundreds of thousands of engineers appear for this exam since the work that will be offered will definitely be lucrative. 

That is if you pass this exam of the course. 

8. Mensa

The Mensa International community is the oldest High IQ community in the world. Every country will have its very own Mensa community for all the intelligent people out there.

There is no limit age for anyone to take part in their test and of course, this test will definitely make you use your brain to its full potential as it is no easy task. You can of course try your luck and partake in their test in order to become one of the members of the Mensa community.

There's a catch though as you will only be considered a pass if you get at least 98% for the overall marks. Not too easy isn't it.

7. Chartered Financial Analysis(CFA)

CFA is a professional certificate that is given to those worthy of the CFA Institute. According to Wall Street Journal, it is considered one of the toughest exams in the world.

It seems that less than 20% of the applicants managed to make it through which most of them have to attempt many times. On average, the participants will make 4 trials before the real exam. As soon as the candidate completed this program they will be a CFA Charterholder.

It's definitely something that most people will dream to have and something that some of you might want to try too.

6. Chartered Accountant(CA)
If you think that the CFA was hard wait until you hear about this exam. This CA exam is held in India especially.

Chartered Accountant is an exam consisting of 3 stages which are conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India(ICAI). The candidate will definitely give it all they got for this exam without days of sleep just so that they can pass these very challenging 3 stages of the difficult exam.

Most of them simply just give up after repeating many times and according to the ICAI, only 10% of the candidate managed to get through all stages successfully.

5. All Souls Prize Fellowship Exam

The Fellowship exam is conducted by one of the top prestigious universities in the world, Oxford University. The part which does not make sense about this exam is not due to the exam's difficulty but the fact that Oxford University will only choose 2 worthy people among all the candidates.

It is until last year that Oxford university set the requirement for the candidates to write an essay on one specific topic. The candidate will definitely need facts and a very creative mind in order to pass this tough exam.

4. Joint Entrance Examination(JEE)
Indian Institute Technology of India(IIT)  has produced many executives that worked in Silicon Valley and this also includes the famous CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai. 

However, to be able to get into IIT you will have to pass what might be the toughest exam on the planet. IIT-JEE is considered one crazy nightmare for most Indians who wish to get into engineering. 

Other institutes like NIT, CFTI, and IIIT accepted students based on similar types of exams. More than half a million students partake in this hard exam every year but only a few thousand are accepted into IIT.

3. National College Entrance Examination(NCEE)
NCEE or commonly known as Gaokao can be considered the hardest exam in China. The students will be taking this exam by the end of their high school years hoping that they will set foot in the best colleges in the country. 

This exam will last for 9 hours in a period of two to three days. It is compulsory for every student to pass this exam in order to move to a higher level. Because of that, almost 10 million people will take this exam every year.

Among all these students only 0.2% of them will manage to get the passing mark and get into the best colleges out there. Gaokao has been the reason for all the anxious feelings among teenagers in China to the extent that documentaries were produced showing everything about this exam.

2. Union Public Service Commission(UPSC)
The UPSC conducts exams every year to recruit people for a position in the government sector. This tough exam will be conducted in three stages and will last for several months in which the last stage will be a private interview.

This is probably one of the toughest exams in the world and even those who passed the IIT-JEE were deemed to fail the UPSC exam. The pass rate for this exam is roughly between 0.1 to 0.4% which just shows how many people are only able to succeed.

1. Master Sommelier Diploma Exam
This exam is not your typical get-to-a-university exam but it will test whether you are worthy of becoming a wine expert. The Courts of Master Sommeliers were established in 1977 and they are the ones responsible for this exam.

You can take the Master Sommelier Diploma Exam only if you pass the Certified Sommelier Examination. The candidate will not only be required to pass the oral theory exam but also face 6 taste tests of grapes while being blindfolded as well as the practical restaurant exam.

Most of the candidates eventually gave up after 5 to 6 trials. For the past 40 years, only 229 people have managed to pass this exam. This clearly proves that this exam is worthy of being the toughest exam in the world.
