10. Algeria

Algeria with an area of 2.38 million square km is the 10th biggest country in the world and one of the African countries on this list. Situated in the northern parts of Africa. Algeria has a beach coast of around 998 km in length.

90% of the country's land comprises golden sandy deserts and most of these deserts have a very high altitude. The country accounts for 1.6% of the earth's land area.

With a difference of 4.4 million squared km from India, Australia stands as the 6th biggest country in the world with an area of 7.69 million squared km. Technically speaking Australia is really massive when you come to look at it to the extent that it does not qualify to be called an island.

Most people in Australia lived on the beach coast such as Sydney in the east and Perth in the west. Aside from being known for its extreme climate, the country is also famous for its many lethal creatures. This country comprises 5.2% of the earth's land area.

Brazil is considered the biggest South American country in the world with an area of 8.51 million square km. Brazil is the place of the biggest forest in the world and it plays a crucial role in the world's ecosystem.

The Republic of China has an area of 9.6 million square km and it is the most populated nation on the planet. However, this figure does not include regions that are in dispute over its territories. In reality, China is considered the 2nd biggest country in the world if we only look at the size of the land's surface area.

But then again, the next countries on this list have more water areas than China which made China be on the 4th rank on this list. The climate and people in China are dramatically different from others.

For instance, in the north, the temperature in these areas can reach between -13 °Celcius to -25 °Celcius. With such a massive population size, China is home to more than 50 ethnicities that are recognized. China comprises 6.3% of the world's land area.

The United States of America is only slightly bigger compared to China. Its overall area is 9.83 million square km and America is home to various wildlife and geography. North America is split into two parts mainly the US itself and Canada.

On top of that, this country is considered the most advanced nation in the world with much expertise in numerous industries. Not to mention that the US has the biggest economic power in the world but probably will be overthrown by China in the future.

Canada with an area of 9.98 million square km making it the biggest country in the western hemisphere and the 2nd biggest in the world. To put into perspective, the country has a dense population ratio of 4 people per square km meaning that the 35  million Canadian residents can have 61 acres of land.

Canada accounts for 6.1% of the world's land area.

1. Russia

Russia stands at the top of the list with a whopping 17.1 million square km of land area. However, most parts of these lands are inhabitant due to their extreme temperature and unsuitable land surface.

With such a huge area, Russia comprises 11% of the world's land area. Similar to China, Russia also borders many neighboring countries and it was believed that there is an abundance of oil resources in the country but due to certain limitations and costs, these valuable resources are yet to be extracted.
