Aside from the football players, the referee is also one of the main characters on the pitch that is responsible for ensuring fair play. And of course, it is not one easy task considering the involvement of it on an international level such as the World Cup

Perhaps some of you might be wondering how much do these referees get paid by FIFA? The figure must be absurd, right? Well, that's true since these referees are known to be millionaires.

Salary of Referees In FIFA World Cup


Based on sources, referees from the football confederation will receive huge compensation for their services in the World Cup. Starting from the World Cup 2018 in Russia, FIFA pays a base salary to each referee amounting to $70,000 and revealed that the same will be done in the World Cup to come.

The assistant referee also gets somewhat of a nice treatment with a pay of $25,000 for their involvement.


The sums received were said to be at least three times of that the UEFA Champions League. Not just that, the referees are also paid $3,000 for group stages and in the sudden-death match, the sum increased to $10,000.

The total is added on top of their salary as stated in the contracts. The lucky referees that are involved in all matches including the final will receive a sum amounting to $300,000.
