10. Sultan Kösen

Height: 8 feet 2.8 inches (251 cm)

Sultan Kösen is the current tallest person in the world that still lives to this day. He is a Turkish farmer who has grown dramatically due to gigantism and he can be seen on TV walking around using crutches.

Due to his height, he felt that he could not complete his education and instead become a part-time farmer. He did however receive treatment at the University of Virginia Medical School and it seems that the treatment was effective in stopping his growth.

He is standing at 8 feet 2.8 inches in height and is now the current holder of the tallest living male.

9. Väinö Myllyrinne

Height: 8 feet 3 inches (251.4 cm)

Väinö Myllyrinne is the tallest Finnish person to ever lived and was once the tallest living person after the passing away of Robert Wadlow. He reached the height of 7 feet 1 inch when he was only 21 years old but experienced a second phase of growth in his thirties giving him a height of 8 feet 3 inches.

He was also a soldier working for the Finnish Defence Forces and was considered a crucial asset to his team due to how strong he was.

8. Al Tomaini

Height: 8 feet 4.5 inches (255 cm)

Al Toamini or his full name Aurelio Tomaini was born on 25 February 1912 claiming a height of 8 feet 4. inches. When he was only 12 years old, he was already taller than his father who stood at 6 feet and 1 inch tall.

The doctor told him that his pituitary gland was releasing too much growth hormone causing him to grow into a giant. He was considered one of a kind as he was married to a unique person as some might call her, the living half-girl.

His unfortunate death was due to extensive treatments for his pituitary tumor in 1962.

7. Pornchai Saosri

Height: 8 feet 5.3 inches (257 cm)

Porchai Saosri is a Thai giant whose actual height could not be verified as he could not stand properly on his own due to pain in his knees. But in the year 2012, the local authorities did manage to measure his height at 8 feet 5.3 inches.

He died in 2015 when he was 26 years old due to hypertension and there was even a claim that he was 8 feet 9.9 inches in height at the time. Who knew if he was even taller then.

6. Hồ Văn Trung

Height: 8 feet 5.35 inches (257 cm)

Hồ Văn Trung was one of the few people to have reached well over 8 feet in height and he was the tallest living person around December 2018. He was holding this record until his final days on 2 November 2019 as the tallest man in South Asia and Vietnam.

As you may have guessed it, he used to be on the Volleyball team, and by the time he was 21 years old, he had already reached 6 feet 7 inches in height. It was until 2019 that he grew to his height now and passed away due to inflammatory bowel disease.

5. Leonid Stadnyk

Height: 8 feet 5.5 inches (258 cm)

Leonid Stadnyk was a Ukrainian farmer who grew to almost 8 feet 5.5 inches in height before he died of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was abnormal ever since he was a kid as a brain tumor causes his body to secret excessive growth hormones.

However, Stadnyk feels that his life is considered a curse and not a blessing. Since his growth does not show any sign of stopping, he was forced to quit his job and lived a humble life with his mother. He passed away at the age of 44.

4. Willie Camper

Height: 8 feet 7 inches (262 cm)

Willie Camper or his full name Guicel Willie Camper was an African-American and the 4th tallest man in the world. He had reached a height of 8 feet and a half inches when he was 18 years old.

He died of a heart attack in 1943 while he was performing in Martinez, California. Before his death at 19, he had reached a height of 8 feet 7 inches.

3. John F. Carroll

Height: 8 feet 7.7 inches (263.5 cm)

Another American man made the list and he is known for being the third tallest person in history. He had a problem with his spine or else his actual height would have been 8 feet 7.7 inches.

His extraordinary growth initiated when he was 16 years old and it continued on to his final breath. He did receive treatment at Mercy Hospital and due to his worsening condition, he passed away on November 1969.

2. John Rogan

Height: 8 feet 9 inches (267 cm)

John William Rogan as some might call him Bud was the second tallest person in the world. With a height of 8 feet 9 inches, he still maintains his record until this day. Due to being so tall, he had a problem standing properly on both his feet.

Therefore, his height was actually measured in the seated position and we will never know what his standing height even is. His rapid growth started when he was 13 years old and it became so prominent that he developed a condition where his knee bones became fused together.

As his condition became much worse, he passed away on 12 September 1905 at 37 years old.

1. Robert Wadlow

Height: 8 feet 11 inches (272 cm)

The tallest verified person in history will be Robert Wadlow standing at a whopping 8 feet 11 inches in height. He was known as the Alton Giant or the Giant of Illinois. His extreme growth was also due to the excessive growth hormone being produced by his body.

Wadlow required leg braces to walk properly as he had very little sensation in his legs and feet. He had a US shoe size of 37 AA which made it very difficult for him to find a shoe that fits. Several days before his death in 1940, doctors measured him at a staggering 8 feet 11 inches in height.
